Through our daily operations, Magnotta Winery strives at all times to provide accessibility to our employees and customers in a way that respects the dignity and independence of all people. We are committed to providing people with disabilities with the same opportunity to access our goods and services allowing them to benefit from the same services, in the same place and in a similar way as other customers.
Social responsibility has been a cornerstone of our company from the very beginning. For more than two decades, Rossana Magnotta has been passionate about healthcare. A long time supporter of Toronto hospitals, foundations and charitable organizations, she has sat on the Board of Directors of Humber River Regional Hospital and pioneered a pre-screening program for Colorectal Cancer. She is now leading the way to build Canada’s first research and screening facility for Lyme Disease which will be housed in Toronto's new Humber River Hospital.
Rossana’s devotion to healthcare, however, began long before her business success took off. Her early career as a Medical Laboratory Technologist helped define her as a young adult and prepared her for an unexpected journey. From lab technologist to winemaker to community advocate, Rossana’s dedication to healthcare gave her a strong sense of caring about the human condition. While her winery would take her down many challenging roads, she always returned to her healthcare roots. It is no surprise that she would find a way to leverage her successful business to instigate change and improve people's lives.
For the past 10 years she has been tackling the obstacles that are preventing Lyme Disease sufferers from being heard by telling Canadians the real story about this devastating disease that, when left untreated and improperly diagnosed, can attack every organ in the body.
Taking on this cause has been highly controversial because of the lack of understanding and the resistance from government and the medical community in acknowledging the extent of Lyme Disease in Canada. Through her winery, she has developed major fund raising initiatives from annual events to charity wines and works diligently with the Canadian Lyme Disease Foundation as a member of the board.
She recently established The G. Magnotta Foundation for Vector Borne Diseases. Money raised by this new foundation will go directly to establishing Canada's long-awaited facility for Lyme Disease and other vector-borne illnesses which will focus on critical new research to advance diagnosis and treatment.
The Magnotta Art Collection
We believe art is a magnificent way to narrate wine so each wine we produce is meticulously paired with its own piece of art selected from our collection to give an insight into the wine's personality. Our art collection is extensive and diverse with pieces ranging from the original Group of Seven to local and international undiscovered artists. Today, with over 180 different wines, we have wonderful stories to tell about art and wine. You will also find the original works of art that have inspired our label designs displayed throughout our stores for you to enjoy up close while you shop. We hope the pairing of art and wine will always remind you of a memorable experience long after the wine is taken from the bottle.
